Biomechanical Screening and MAT
Book a Biomechanics or MAT session with Judith Bakker if you have been treated for an injury without significant improvement. The chances are there is a
biomechanical cause somewhere else in the body that is loading the susceptible area.
No membership is required to book a session.
Biomechanics Coach
Biomechanical Screening will highlight problems that may cause your body to compensate and breakdown.
It is often these compensations for biomechanical issues that lead to faulty movement patterns and
ultimately compromised performance and injury.
So if you have been treated for an injury without significant improvement, the chances are there is a
biomechanical cause somewhere else in the body that is loading the susceptible area.
A biomechanical screen will highlight flaws in your pelvis, knee, foot and ankle, spine, core and shoulders.
It will establish a low grade muscle spasm in key muscles and will check your nervous system is fully
functional.
Your Biomechanics Coach will setup a rehab programme including muscle relaxation techniques and
exercises you can do at home and together with your BC. Four sessions of an hour are needed over a
period of 2 months to successfully coach you through the rehab programme.
MAT: Muscle Activation Techniques
Like the Biomechanical Screening “MAT” is a biomechanical based process for identifying and correcting
muscular imbalances that contribute to chronic pain or injury.
However it does not use relaxation techniques, as its believes that tightness is a response to weakness of
muscles that need to stabilise joints. Its screening focusses on finding weak muscles. Weak muscles
cause overload of other muscles leading to compensations leading to compromised performance and
injury.
The Muscle Activation Technique activates the weak muscles which are not properly stimulated by the
Central nervous system. A good activation can reverse the compensation process and bring the body back
in balance.
The treatment is pure therapy, which means that clients cannot do exercises at home.
